
Ramayanam - Malayalam is the dubbed version in Malayalam Language of the hit and hugely successful magnum opus Hindi tele serial Ramayana which aired on the popular Hindi entertainment channel NDTV Imagine. The Malayalam dubbed version of the same serial titled Ramayanam aired on one of the popular and leading Malayalam entertainment channel Mazhavil Manorama and later also on Surya TV every Monday to Friday from 6:30 pm onwards in the evening as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).
Ramayanam is the audio visual version in the form of a tele serial the depiction of the life events and life stories of Lord Rama-the Hindu deity and one the avatar of Lord Vishnu-The protector of the universe as narrated in the Hindu Epic Valmiki’s Ramayana. Ramayanam won the award of the most new promising TV show at the telly awards ceremony and actor Gurmeet Chowdhury won the awards of the most promising new face for portraying the role of Lord Rama in the serial. Composer Ravindra Jain composed musical score for this show and a cd with 17 bhajans were also released which were part of the show. In the Malayalam dubbed version, Singer 'P Unnikrishnan' sang most of the songs along with other female artistes. In the serial, the role of Mata Sita was essayed by the later real life wife of actor Gurmeet Choudhary, actress Debina Bonnerjee. The show was conceptualized by Anand Sagar and was directed and produced by Omung Kumar along with UTV. It was a hugely successful TV series and garnered many awards, accolades and high TRPs.

Debina Bonnerjee (born 18 April 1983)[1] is an Indian TV actress best known for her portrayal of Sita in the 2008 television series Ramayan with her husband Gurmeet Choudhary, who acted as Sri Ram.[2]
Her first television role was in Tamil TV serial called Mayavi (2005). Her other notable roles which added to her fame and popularity include Mayuri Narayan on Chidiya Ghar where her character was given a makeover in March 2014 to become more 'contemporary'. [3] She has also appeared in a number of reality shows.
